Do you have a specific marketplace in mind? Create an order specification with one click from our list of popular sales channels using the “Marketplaces” tool. Are you processing images for your own eCommerce website and want guidance? Use our “Step-By-Step” wizard. Are you a professional photographer or graphic designer with very specific needs? Our “Manual” option allows advanced customization of your order specifications.

You’re not limited to a single specification, either. You can create specifications for as many different products, using as many different methods, as you wish. For example, you can create one set of specifications for your eCommerce website’s fall jewelry line that’s tightly cropped, bottom aligned, and uses reflection shadow. You can create another specification for apparel on your mobile application that uses square sizing, center alignment, and a ghost mannequin effect. There are literally unlimited possibilities.

Every specification can be updated at any time, so you don’t have to start over if your needs change at a later date. Let’s take a look at all three ways to create specifications.

1. Marketplaces

If you’re selling your product through an existing marketplace, creating an order specification is easy as can be. We already know their rules and guarantee image compliance. 2. Step-By-Step

Create custom product image specifications for your online store in only 6 steps.

If you’re looking to create custom specifications according to your own guidelines, we can help you through the process. Select the “Step-By-Step” option and our wizard will walk you through spec creation in six simple clicks. When you’re done, we’ll show you the complete and editable specs you’ve created along with an example image that has your specs applied to it.

If you have multiple product categories, brands, or channels, remember that you can create as many custom specifications as you wish. Each specification is completely independent, allowing you total freedom of choice.

Follow these six simple steps to create custom order specifications.

Step 1.

You can select from our preset categories, like Fashion & Apparel, Home Furnishings, Cosmetics & Beauty, Footwear, and Jewelry, or create your own. The category you choose will select the sample image used in portions of the wizard.

The wizard keeps questions to a minimum and doesn’t ask you anything too technical. You can drill down and add advanced detail if you like, but you don’t have to. You can click your way through in a matter of minutes.

Step 2.

In “Settings” you can choose basic settings like file type (JPG, PNG, PSD, TIFF), background, and whether you want compressed images. If you select PSD or TIFF, you will have file type specific add-ons like clipping path available later. Advanced settings allow you to determine DPI, color profile, rendering, and other features.

Unless you have specific needs, we recommend sticking with the default settings. We have pre-selected best practice options for eCommerce.

Step 3.

In “SeThe “Format” step lets you determine the shape and size of your images. You can select from popular ratios, create your own ratio, set exact pixel dimensions, have us crop tightly around the image, or even have the image returned with the same size format.

Step 4.

The “Alignment” step determines if your product is aligned in the top, center, or bottom of your image.

Step 5.

I“Margins” allow you to set, in percentages, the amount of margin between your product and the edges of the image. Marketplaces and shopping cart systems often have margin limits that you need to stay within.

The purpose of every step thus far is to guarantee consistency. The key to creating professional category pages is to have consistent product image presentation.

Applying the same rules to every image for cropping, alignment, and margins ensures a clean and consistent look to your website. A professional appearance inspires trust in your shoppers, making them more likely to convert into customers.

Step 6.

If you’re ready to take your product images to another level, we have a number of popular add-ons. Adding natural shadow, reflection shadow, cast shadow, or drop shadow will create depth that makes product images pop.

An invisible mannequin, also known as a ghost mannequin, displays apparel in its natural three dimensional shape without distracting customers with models.

Use color correction to ensure your customers see your product as it truly is, preventing product returns. Receiving a PSD or TIFF and want to keep your options open? Select clipping path to let you remove the background yourself at a later date.

In just six simple clicks, you’ve created a specification that will guarantee consistent presentation of your product images. Note that you can create as many different specifications as you like, allowing you to create different specifications for different products or marketplaces.

The possibilities are endless: you can create different specifications for individual categories like footwear, jewelry, and outerwear; for your fall and spring seasons; for shots from different angles; for promotions or special collections; even for different media, like a mobile application. The choice is yours, and our live sample images let you see your specifications applied in real time, before you upload any images or pay a dime.

In our example, we now have both an Amazon compliant specification and a specification for your own eCommerce website. A summary of the technical details is printed in an easy to read and easy to distribute format, making it easy for your team to review.

Every specification can be edited in detail using the “Actions” option. If you want to skip wizards and presets and go straight to those technical details, the “Manual” specification creation option is for you.

You can adjust features like file type, alignment, background, sizing, name, DPI, compression, watermark, EXIF metadata, and more!

Manual Methods

The live sample image itself can be changed to more closely match your product. We have preloaded sample images from a wide variety of categories, all the way from jewelry to home furnishings. This real time preview of your specs helps prevent errors and lets you refine specs down to the smallest detail.

Whether you choose Marketplaces, Step-By-Step, or Manual, no single order specification method is better than any other. That’s why we have options! Choose the one that best suits your needs, and don’t be afraid to create multiple specifications or edit existing ones.
