Luisa Via Roma continues to grow and expand its presence internationally. Before Pixelz

Before Pixelz, Giuseppe and his team used multiple vendors to edit images across multiple time zones. Their goal was to be covered across a 24-hour period with their vendors. They average around 1400 images daily - that’s no easy feat for any one vendor. And it wasn’t that easy for the post-production team at Luisa Via Roma either. The team spent 70-80% of their time managing quality control, downloading, uploading, and moving files between folders.

As Giuseppe says now about the team, “All team members can leave the office without worrying about sending images or uploading the FTP. And in the morning, they only need to spend a couple of hours on quality control, which is now only 20-30% of the day.”

Scalability & Turn Around Time

There are always risks when outsourcing work to companies like PIxelz or even hiring freelancers for the first time. Can they deliver what they promise? And can I rely on them? Luisa Via Roma is no stranger to this experience, especially when it comes to promises of quality and turn-around time. Giuseppe describes the challenges of working with some vendors, “Often, with previous vendors, you ask if they can handle the volume. They say yes, yes I can. And after all the images are sent, they may have to source the extra team members to complete our images, and it’s not at the same quality.”

Alessio continues to explain the difficulty of managing image volume: “For us, in the fashion world, the volume is not the same. We start a new season, and we are busy with work. Then the volume slowly decreases, and then it will start up again with a new season. All the different volumes of work are difficult to organize with a vendor. But with Pixelz, it’s really easy because of AI and the platform.”

Because these volumes fluctuate, Luisa Via Roma was also looking for flexibility regarding turn-around time. They needed to be able to get certain products online faster than others. Working with us at Pixelz, we have set up an option for Luisa Via Roma to have a 3-hour turn-around or standard 24-hour turnaround on any order. As Alessio states, “We have some urgent images, for us, those are the still-life images. We are able to arrange what we prefer and give priority to different content. This is important when you’re working with big volumes.”

Gaining Back Time and Flexibility

The switch to Pixelz as their main vendor wasn’t a simple and quick switch. The team at Luisa Via Roma essentially had to rethink and ‘break’ some of the ways they were used to doing post-production. But when they broke the old way of doing things, they found some new freedom with Pixelz.

They are now back to doing what they do best—being creative. Luisa Via Roma sends all its e-commerce images to Pixelz, while its in-house team handles images with stricter guidelines, editorial images, or more creative images.

The time and freedom can also help the team at Luisa Via Roma expand beyond their work. The Pixelz Platform has opened the doors to the ability to work remotely.

Through working with Pixelz, Luisa Via Roma has opened up new opportunities and flexibility for the team.

"It’s possible to get access to images on Chrome. You don’t need a big computer with lots of memory and other stuff. You just need a laptop and a connection. It’s useful in some situations, like working from home."

Making Data-Driven Decisions

With a move to one vendor, Giuseppe and Alessio have discovered some additional benefits to being able to use one platform for all their outsourced image editing - a new level of transparency. The team at Luisa Via Roma appreciates that pricing is clearly outlined per specifications and per image, so they always know what to expect for their budget. Giuseppe discusses the importance of transparency, “Via the platform, I can check productivity and track costs. We can quickly record how much we spent in the last month or each category of images because all this data is tracked in a CSV record.”

They then use that information to analyze their images and performance. As Giuseppe explains, “We need to track how our budget is spent and where we are spending it. For example, we can see if we are spending more for a model set of images, garments or accessories. We didn’t have an internal platform to do that before. It’s a good feature for us to be able to analyze our own budget.”
