When Hyperblack Studios launched at the end of 2020, Co-founder and Managing Director Karli Foster already knew exactly how she wanted post-production to run and who she wanted to partner with.

Pixelz supports the first stage of Hyperblack’s post-production, taking on the objective, time-consuming edits that could otherwise slow the studio down. Pixelz handles the clipping, background cleanup, shadow consistency, and precise cropping, work that requires speed and accuracy, especially at scale. Karli explains that Pixelz “does it incredibly well and incredibly fast,” helping keep production moving from the moment assets leave the set.
Once the foundational edits are complete through Pixelz, Hyperblack’s team can focus where it makes the most impact, whether that’s continuing the workflow with more creative retouching or collaborating closely with brand partners on the more specific visual details.

Bottlenecks are a common challenge in studios handling high product volume. When asked how Pixelz impacts operational flow, Karli highlighted the ability for many team members to upload directly: “It doesn’t have to go through one person, and that’s where bottlenecks can happen.” With Pixelz, files move through the pipeline continuously instead of waiting behind a single coordinator.
Karli also highlighted how essential consistency is when serving many brands with different requirements. Pixelz supports this with flexible specification tools, including manual specifications, step-by-step specifications, and predefined specifications that Hyperblack’s team can manage themselves. Whether they need to fine-tune a detailed rule for a specific client or keep things standardized across high-volume product runs, they can easily adjust requirements as needed without slowing down production.
This level of control helps ensure that technical standards are applied correctly from the start: cropping, alignment, shadows, background, and more, no matter the volume. As Karli shared, the work coming back from Pixelz is “really accurate, really consistent… those specs never fail.” By eliminating unnecessary rework and back-and-forth, Hyperblack can keep assets moving through approvals faster and deliver reliably on client timelines.
The turnaround speed remains the biggest differentiator for Karli. When production ramps up, Pixelz ensures delivery timelines remain intact. As Karli put it, “If we don’t have that first step moving quickly, it’s impossible to have quick turnaround times.” Speed enables Hyperblack to keep launch schedules on track and gives their clients faster time-to-site for their products.

Karli explained that working with Pixelz has always felt collaborative, even in her previous roles. As she put it, Pixelz is “super quick” to respond and “open to collaborating” to ensure the workflow continues to meet Hyperblack’s needs as they grow.
She also emphasized the importance of having a dedicated, accessible account manager who remains involved well beyond onboarding: guiding setup, providing continuity, and being an ongoing partner in their success.
“There’s always a human there, someone you can talk to. I’ve never felt like I’ve reached out and just gotten some automated thing that is completely unhelpful, which 90% of the programs you use today, that’s what you get back.”
