THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineer with expertise in AWS cloud services and database management to join our dynamic platform engineering team. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure while managing, optimizing, and maintaining our diverse database infrastructure. You will work closely with development teams to ensure optimal database performance and cloud cost, implement backup and recovery strategies, and ensure security best practices across our cloud and on-premises environments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement scalable AWS cloud solutions following architectural best practices and industry standards
• Implement comprehensive security frameworks including network security, encryption, identity management, and access controls
• Optimize cloud infrastructure costs through performance analysis, right-sizing, and automated scaling strategies
• Manage and optimize database systems across self-hosted and cloud environments (e.g, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB)
• Design and maintain database architectures including schema design, migration strategies, backup, and disaster recovery
• Build and maintain observability platforms with monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and alerting for applications and infrastructure
• Provide technical guidance on cloud architecture patterns, database design, and platform engineering best practices
• Collaborate with development teams to improve system reliability, performance, and deployment workflows
• Mentor junior engineers and drive knowledge sharing across the organization

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or DBA roles
• Strong AWS expertise with core services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, VPC, IAM) and cloud-native design patterns
• Database proficiency across multiple technologies (e.g, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch)
• Observability experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, ELK stack)
• Programming skills in at least one language (Python, .Net, Java, etc.) plus scripting (Bash, PowerShell)
• Container orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to system optimization and troubleshooting
• Excellent communication skills in English with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

NICE TO HAVE

• CI/CD pipeline experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Bitbucket Pipelines
• Infrastructure as Code experience using AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, or database GitOps workflows
• Agile methodology experience with cross-functional team collaboration and iterative development
• Professional certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• Production operations experience including on-call responsibilities and incident response management
